FIFA World Cups and European Cups at Alpenhof Filzmoos – Goals, Fun & Winning a free Extra Night

From June 11 to July 19, 2026, the ball was rolling across the Atlantic: the FIFA World Cup took place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. For the very first time, 48 teams were compete – and everyone wanted to become World Champion - Spain won in the end. Here at the Alpenhof in Filzmoos, we were right there with them… at least in spirit, in body, and of course with a cold beer in hand. ⚽

At our hotel in the Austrian Alps, we enjoyed the perfect mix of football excitement and a cozy hiking holiday in the heart of Austria. And for those who loved to relax in between, our spacious wellness area was always waiting for them.

Oh, and one more thing – some even won a free extra night at our hotel!

You’ll find all the details further down below, maybe you need a little bit of inspiration for a future football world cup or european cup. Every two years, we have a fun month with all the excitement in the middle of nature and our mountains. ☺️

First things first – football and mountains… does that even go together?

The best hiking season of the year happens to coincide every two years with a major football event – the World Cup of 2022 excluded, of course. :)

Why the best hiking season? By the end of June, the weather is already wonderfully warm, the views are simply breathtaking, and it’s not yet as hot as in the high summer months of July and August.

But back to the main point – we just love all of it: hiking, wellness, football, and a little bit of betting. ⚽

Our hiking program at the Wanderhotel Alpenhof Filzmoos will be running at full speed throughout the whole event, meaning daily guided hiking tours. Afterwards, you can catch all the exciting football matches live in a few places at our hotel or even no football at all if that is what you want.

Whether on the big screen in our hotel cinema, in your room, on the terrace or in the Alpenhof Bar, you won’t miss a single moment. And all the while… pure holiday bliss!

Do you wanna win a free night?

Let’s clear things up – some of you may already know this tradition.

Every two years, we place a fun bet together with you – and of course also this year! Once again, all winners of our football bet will receive a free night at the Alpenhof in Filzmoos.

The bet for the european cup in 2028 is not official yet, but here is our last bet for the world cup in 2026 as a reference:

Every guest staying with us for at least one week between June 11 and July 19 (period for the competition) in 2026, automatically takes part in this special bet:

“Which team will become World Champion 2026?”

If you send us your guess or let us know when booking – and you’re right – you’ll win a free extra night here at the Alpenhof Filzmoos. ☺️

Here are the details:
Valid only for bookings made before June 11, 2026 (otherwise it wouldn’t be fair).
Your tip must also be submitted before the opening match on June 11, 2026.

If we don’t receive a tip from you by then, the “automatic” rule applies:
First - your home country will count as your tip. If your country doesn’t participate, we’ll set your tip to Austria.
And if Austria is not in the tournament, we will choose the host country.
If there are more host-countries, we will choose the one, which hosts the final game.
Sounds complicated - it would be a lot easier if we receive your tip. ☺️

The prize will be sent to you as a voucher. If it doesn’t arrive, please let us know – normally it should reach you one month after the tournament is over.

The free night is valid until the end of summer the year after the tournament. If not used, the voucher expires and no cash payout is possible.
