We have been caring for our guests for over 60 years - who confirm that hospitality at Alpenhof Naturglück is not just an empty word. With great love, Julia and Michael run the hotel, supported vigorously by their son Markus and his girlfriend Victoria. Even Grandma Agnes, at over 90 years old, still joyfully sits right in the middle of everything and enjoys the visit of many regular guests.
Together we always move forward
Together it's better. While the parents with their vast experience know how things are done, the junior managers bring fresh energy into the proceedings. Working like this is fun and it's joyful to see progress.

What role does the Walchhofer family play in the daily hotel operations?
We, the Walchhofer family, have been rooted in Filzmoos for generations and run the Alpenhof with heart. Everyone helps out in the daily hotel operations. Our goal: personal care and a warm, friendly atmosphere during your stay.
Markus and Michael work at the reception and in the service. Michael hosts a weekly schnapps distilling demonstration, while Markus, our wine sommelier, guides you through tastings of Austrian wines. They also handle technology and programming.
Julia manages the service and the garden. You’ll mostly find her in the restaurant or behind the camera, taking photos.
Vicky supports the kitchen, service, and social media — sometimes all in one day, depending on what’s needed.
And our dear Grandma Agnes can be found at the Stammtisch during meal times. She enjoys her retirement and is always happy to welcome new and familiar guests.

What connects the Walchhofer family to Filzmoos & the local region?
Filzmoos is our home — we know the mountains, trails, people, and hidden gems. Thanks to our roots and love for the region, we live and work closely with local producers. We have known our farmers all our lives and know where to shop well and locally. We want to share this connection to our homeland with our guests and make it a tangible experience.
How does a family-run hotel like Alpenhof differ from large hotel chains?
With us, guests are not anonymous numbers. We love catering to your individual wishes and get to know you within just a few days. Our smaller number of guests makes this much easier than in large hotels.
Hotel chains, due to their enormous size, rely on strict structures. They know their guests mainly as a number or through a customer-relationship program that helps manage the high volume of clients. This large guest count often prevents them from offering the personal warmth that smaller, family-run hotels like ours provide every day. Direct contact with our guests is very important to us, as personal interaction is one of the most rewarding aspects of our work.
