... for a livable future!

despite the generous wellness area
we are CO2 neutral
thanks to the following measures behind the scenes:
- good thermal insulation
- ventilations with heat recovery
- smaller tricks such as the nocturnal water reduction in the outdoor pool
- Additionally, our two PV installations provide about 26,000 kW/h of energy per year
and on the topic of heating:
Pellet heating - regional fuel - sustainable, hence CO2-neutral.
Our pellet heating systems with a total heating capacity of 200 kW have saved almost 950,000 l of heating oil so far - this is equivalent to about 2,750 tons of CO2. In 2021, two additional heat pumps were put into operation, which run on electricity from renewable energies.

Handling Resources
conscious and frugal
Where this is not possible, we rely on ecological products whenever we can. With mindful handling, we’ve managed to strongly reduce our use of cleaning agents.
Waste management is also an essential part of hotel operations. Thanks to our current system, the vast majority of our waste is already being recycled. It’s an ongoing process of improvement – because our long-term goal is clear: a true circular economy.
Crystal-clear mountain spring water from our own source
The Alpenhof is supplied by a total of three sources, all providing top-quality drinking water. This quality is continuously monitored, and we pay close attention to keeping it clean.

because we live off our environment
we take care of it.
Want to know more?
We’ve prepared a small FAQ here. You might find exactly what you’re looking for.
And if not: just write to us or give us a quick call — we’re always happy to help. 😊
Does sustainability mean restrictions (e.g., less comfort, less choice)?
For example – towels in the rooms. In the past, daily changes were standard, but who really needed that every day? Nowadays, guests decide when they want them changed. The result: saving water and energy through far fewer laundry cycles — without sacrificing comfort.
Is sustainability at your hotel just “marketing,” or is it actually verified and certified?
And to be honest, in some areas these standards don’t go far enough. Especially when it comes to energy, we go well beyond the required measures.
How can I, as a hotel guest, help reduce my ecological footprint?
Use fewer towels, whether in your room or in the wellness area. Be mindful with water and electricity, avoid plastic, and separate your waste.
When it comes to food, reducing meat consumption also helps — and it’s good for you, too. Nowadays we eat meat almost every day — I don’t exempt myself here. It used to be different, and returning to that old habit would certainly be helpful. And regardless of what you eat, choosing regional products is always recommended.
Why is it worth staying at a sustainably run hotel — will I notice it as a guest?
Personally, I like an alternative term in german for sustainability even better. If I translate it, it means something like "grandchildren-approved". That’s exactly the goal we should all aim for.
With so many environmental labels, it’s easy to lose track — how do I know yours are actually meaningful?
We deliberately rely only on recognized, government-verified environmental labels. These are regularly monitored, have clear criteria, and are not just “bought.” They are independently verified, transparently evaluated, and fully traceable for you.
And if you don’t believe us, feel free to check for yourself.
Still haven’t found what you’re looking for? Our main FAQs have even more info, tips, and answers. Right now it is only in german, but we are working on it, just give us a few days.
And if something comes to mind that’s missing here — we’re just a message away. 😉
