Our FAQ's
The most frequently asked questions and answers – all in one place
Here you’ll find the most frequently asked questions and answers, neatly bundled on one page.
The fact that our FAQs are a bit more detailed is no coincidence. Alongside technical reasons (SEO, GEO, AEO, and many more abbreviations), the main goal is to provide you with as much helpful information as possible. Better one answer too many than one question left unanswered.

The Alpenhof
How active or relaxing can I make my holiday at the Alpenhof?
It's entirely up to you. You can start the day with hikes, nature experiences, or exercise, or simply sleep in, read, and enjoy the surroundings. There's plenty to do here, so it doesn't matter if you miss out on one or two things.
Do I need to be athletic to stay at the Alpenhof?
Not at all. You can be active, but you don't have to be. Our guided hikes and activities – whether in winter or summer – are designed to offer something for all levels – whether you're an athlete or someone who prefers a more relaxed pace. And most importantly, relaxation is key – whether that happens while being active in nature or lounging on a wellness lounger – that's your choice, and that's what a holiday is all about.
At what time of year is a holiday at the Alpenhof particularly worthwhile?
I can't decide – every season has its own charm. In early summer and autumn, nature is a true spectacle – whether we're talking about flowers, colorful leaves, or the expansive views. In the height of summer, our swimming areas are even more inviting and a highlight of any holiday. This is especially welcome, as a relaxing day between activities offers a welcome change of pace. And in winter, in addition to classic snow activities like skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hiking, there are many other highlights. From Advent and Christmas to the sporty season of February and the joyful Carnival, all the way to Easter. Every season here has its own magic ✨
How important is the hotel's location for my stay?
Very important – and very pleasant. The surroundings allow you to experience nature directly from the hotel, without long journeys or stress. We are located in a quiet area outside the town, so you don't have to worry about excessive noise. And the advantage of a quieter location is that our grounds invite you to linger and relax – especially the wellness area and garden in summer.
What does a typical day at the Alpenhof feel like?
A typical day at the Alpenhof is cozy, relaxed, and personal. As a family-run hotel, we place great importance on ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and can enjoy their time in a relaxed atmosphere 😊.
Culinary
Can I eat at the Alpenhof even if I'm not a hotel guest?
Yes! Even if you're not staying at the hotel, you're welcome to reserve a table and dine with us. In the evenings, we offer two options: our four-course set menu or our self-grill restaurant with steaks, fish, and vegetables. Simply call us the evening before to make a reservation. And every morning, we have a generous breakfast buffet, which is also available to non-hotel guests. To ensure everyone has a chance to enjoy it, we kindly ask all guests to arrive between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m., as our breakfast buffet is available until 10:00 a.m. Of course, everyone is welcome to drop by for coffee, beer, cocktails, or other drinks, whether after a hike, a day of skiing, or just by chance – we always have something to drink.
How flexible is the dinner option? Can I choose between different dishes?
Yes! In the evenings, you have the option of choosing from 3 different main courses with the set menu, or 4 if we include the children's meal. This way you can decide according to your mood and appetite. At least one of the main courses is always vegetarian, and all other courses can also be vegetarian if they aren't already.
Does the Alpenhof offer any special themed or event-based culinary experiences?
Absolutely! Once a week, we enjoy typical regional dishes like Kasnocken (cheese dumplings), roast pork, sauerkraut, vegetables, dumplings, and more – it's simply part of a holiday in the Salzburg region. And in the summer, we head out to the terrace once a week for a barbecue – they have everything your heart desires, fresh off the grill. Meat, fish, vegetables, grilled cheese, a large dessert buffet, and much more await you. The only downside? I wouldn't be able to start a diet again until after the holiday. 😊
Are special dietary requirements such as lactose intolerance, celiac disease (gluten), veganism, etc., also taken into account?
Yes, our kitchen is flexible and caters to dietary needs and allergies. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly. For very specific issues, such as multiple allergies or cross-allergies, please contact us so we can provide individual advice.
What are the meal times for dinner?
We kindly ask all guests to arrive at the restaurant between 6:00 and 7:00 pm, so you can start your meal in a relaxed atmosphere.
What is a "self-grilling restaurant" and how does it work?
Our self-service grill restaurant is a special highlight for your holiday in Filzmoos. Meat, fish, vegetables, and side dishes, including sauces, are brought directly to your table, and you can cook everything exactly to your liking on the integrated induction cooktop. It's perfect for enjoying a unique dinner with friends and family. And for dessert, there's chocolate fondue – melted chocolate with fruit – doesn't that sound delicious? 😋
Walchhofer family
What role does the Walchhofer family play in the daily hotel operations?
We, the Walchhofer family, have been rooted in Filzmoos for generations and run the Alpenhof with heart. Everyone pitches in with the daily hotel operations. Our goal: personal attention and a warm, welcoming atmosphere for your holiday. Markus and Michael work at reception and in the restaurant. Michael demonstrates schnapps distilling weekly, while Markus leads tastings of Austrian wines. Technical support and programming are also part of their responsibilities. Julia manages the restaurant and the garden. You'll usually find her in the restaurant or behind the camera taking photos. Vicky works in the kitchen, in the restaurant, and on social media—sometimes all in one day, depending on the needs of the staff. And you'll find our dear Grandma Agnes at the regulars' table during mealtimes. She's enjoying her retirement and is always happy to greet new and familiar guests.
What connects the Walchhofer family to Filzmoos and the region?
Filzmoos is our home—we know the mountains, the trails, the people, and the hidden gems. Because of our roots and love for the region, we live and work together with local producers. We've known our farmers our whole lives and know where to buy good, local products. We want to share this connection to nature and our home with our guests and make it a tangible experience.
How does a family-run business like your Alpenhof differ from large hotel chains?
With us, guests aren't just anonymous numbers. We love to cater to your individual needs and get to know you after just a few days. Our smaller guest count makes things easier for us than for larger establishments. Hotel chains, simply because of their sheer size, need rigid structures. They know their guests by their numbers or through their customer relationship management (CRM) program, which helps them keep track of a large number of customers. This high volume of guests often prevents them from offering the personal warmth that smaller, family-run hotels like ours provide every day. Direct contact with our guests is very important to us, as personal interaction is one of the most rewarding aspects of our profession.
Do you have regular customers — and why do they keep coming back?
Yes — many guests have been visiting us regularly for years. The reason: We continue to develop every year. Comfort and quality increase, and yet we remain a welcoming, family-run place. Many appreciate this feeling of being welcomed. They don't just feel like "hotel guests," but like part of the Alpenhof family. Even if a new holiday destination is exciting, the anticipation of a holiday "at home" has its own special charm. There, you know you'll have a wonderful, relaxing time.
Environment and sustainability
Does sustainability lead to limitations (e.g., less comfort, less choice)?
Not at all. For us, sustainable practices don't mean "less," but rather "more conscious." You'll still enjoy comfort, wellness, and enjoyment—but with a focus on the environment and the region. Many guests even see this as added value. Take towels in the rooms, for example. It used to be standard practice to change them daily, but who really needed that? Nowadays, guests tell us when we change them. The result is water and energy savings due to far fewer washes, without sacrificing comfort.
Is sustainability just "marketing" for you — or is it actually tested and certified?
No — we've undergone a genuine audit and are certified with recognized environmental labels. This guarantees that our measures aren't just promised, but regularly monitored. And frankly, these criteria don't go far enough for us in some areas; we're significantly ahead of the curve, especially in energy efficiency.
How can I, as a hotel guest, help reduce the ecological footprint?
Quite simply, habits we have in everyday life are often perfect for saving money on vacation: Use fewer towels, whether in your room or at the spa. Be mindful of your water and electricity consumption, avoid plastic, and separate your waste. Going meat-free also helps, and you'll be doing yourself a favor at the same time. These days, we eat meat almost every day, and as an author, I'm no exception. It used to be different, and a return to those old habits would certainly be beneficial. Regardless of what we eat, regional cuisine is always recommended.
Why is a sustainably managed hotel even worthwhile — do I, as a guest, notice any difference?
Because sustainability benefits not only the environment but also your holiday experience: clean air, efficient energy, and regional products make you feel better. Personally, I particularly like an alternative term to sustainable – suitable for future generations. That should be the goal for all of us.
With so many environmental labels, it's easy to lose track – how do I know that yours are actually worth something?
Good point! And frankly, it's a really annoying problem. To find out, you need at least a little research, and who does that these days? We deliberately only use recognized, government-certified eco-labels. These are regularly inspected, have clear criteria, and aren't simply "bought." They are independently tested, transparently evaluated, and verifiable for you at any time. And if you don't believe us, please just check for yourself.
Jobs - Become part of the happiness
What kind of people are a particularly good fit for the Alpenhof team?
Ideally, we're looking for people who enjoy working with others, are open-minded, and take pleasure in giving guests a wonderful experience. Perfection is less important than warmth, reliability, and team spirit.
What are the typical working hours like in a hotel?
Working hours depend on the hotel operations and the specific department. We are flexible regarding the number of hours and days. From part-time work (a few hours) to full-time work (5 or 6 days), everything is possible. The details will be discussed in an initial meeting and should work for both parties. 😊
Can I also submit a speculative application?
Yes, absolutely! Even if there isn't a suitable position advertised right now, it's still worth sending in a speculative application. Sometimes the right opportunity arises sooner than you think 🙂
What is the working atmosphere like at the Alpenhof?
We have a friendly, family-like atmosphere where everyone is respectful. Many of us have been working at the Alpenhof for years – that pretty much says it all. We know each other and help each other out when things get hectic. And we believe that a good working environment benefits everyone in the hotel, whether employee or guest. We've all been working far too long to find this part of life boring or tedious.
Are there seasonal or year-round jobs available?
Both are possible - almost everyone takes a year-round position - which provides security.
Do you also accept interns and/or apprentices?
Yes, we offer both internships and apprenticeships. Depending on the timeframe and field, we'll work together to find the best fit. A brief inquiry is usually all it takes to clarify the possibilities.
Accommodation and offers
Are the rooms furnished in a modern or traditional style?
A blend of both. The Alpenhof focuses on alpine coziness, combined with contemporary elements. Lots of wood, warm colors, and a homey feel – without being kitschy. This makes you feel right at home – you won't find any dark rooms or designs here.
If the balcony and the view are very important to me, which categories would you recommend?
Then we recommend two categories – the Zirbenstein double room and the Edelweiss junior suite. The view of our garden, the stream that runs past the hotel, and the surrounding mountains is simply breathtaking.
How many rooms does the hotel have? Is it huge?
The Alpenhof is one of the smaller, family-run hotels. Especially considering its large wellness area, the hotel, with just over 40 rooms, is small and cozy. This quickly creates a personal atmosphere where you don't feel lost or like just a number, but rather well cared for. 😊
How quiet are the rooms - can you hear much of the surroundings?
We have no problems with that – almost all our guests find it very quiet, as we are located in the countryside and outside the town. Even on our access road leading to the hotel, there is very little traffic.
Rooms and Suites
Are there any rooms with balconies? If so, which ones are they?
With the exception of one room category, the "Mitterspitz" rooms, all rooms include a balcony. The "Mitterspitz" room category is located on the ground floor, which offers other advantages.
Approximately how large are the rooms and suites?
Our single rooms in Rettenstein are just over 20 m². Our double rooms in Mitterspitz, Dachstein, and Zirbenstein are around 30 m². The Edelweiss junior suites are almost 40 m². And our Torstein apartments are even 60 m². Plenty of space for comfort, relaxation, and quality time with the family.
Are there any special offers for longer stays or seasonal packages?
Yes, we regularly offer summer and winter deals, as well as special packages for hikers, winter vacationers, and wellness enthusiasts. Just take a look at our summer and winter offers. For stays longer than 14 days, please send us an inquiry directly. We might then be able to make you a better offer than those available online.
How can I check room availability and book directly?
The easiest way is via our booking form directly on the website, or you can send us an inquiry using the inquiry button or via WhatsApp. Of course, you can also book by phone. Direct bookings are always the cheapest with us. If this isn't the case due to an error, please let us know and we'll cover the difference.
Can I take special requests into account when choosing a room, e.g., floor or location?
Yes, we always try to accommodate individual requests – whether it's a quiet location, a specific floor, or a balcony with a particular view. Simply specify your requirements when booking or inquiring.
Double room Mitterspitz
Does the Mitterspitz room have a balcony?
No, the Mitterspitz room does not have a balcony. However, it boasts a good location within the building, as it is situated on the ground floor.
Can we also use the Mitterspitz room as a three- or four-bed room?
The comfortable corner sofa can be used as an additional sleeping option. This easily transforms the double room into a three- or four-bed room.
For whom is the Mitterspitz double room particularly practical?
Ideal for those seeking a comfortable, functional, and well-sized room who don't require a balcony. Families especially appreciate the ground-floor location and flexible usage options.
What features does the bathroom have?
In the bathroom you'll find a marble vanity, a shower, a hairdryer, and a cosmetic mirror. A particularly nice touch: the toilet is separate. This makes for a more relaxed morning routine. 😉 Generally speaking, all our double rooms have separate bathrooms and toilets.
Are dogs allowed in the Mitterspitz room?
Yes, one dog per room is permitted in the Mitterspitz room. Please indicate this when making your inquiry, as we have a limited number of rooms available for dogs.
Double room Zirbenstein
Does the Zirbenstein room have a balcony? Is it nice?
Yes, the room has an east-facing balcony – perfect for that first coffee of the morning. Many guests enjoy simply stepping outside, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and letting their gaze wander. Along with the south side, the east and south faces are our best – enjoy the surrounding mountains. 😊
Can we also use the Zirbenstein room as a three- or four-bed room?
Yes, that's possible – the Zirbenstein double room can also be used as a triple or quadruple room. Thanks to additional sleeping options, it can be flexibly adapted to your needs and is perfect for families.
What distinguishes the Zirbenstein double room from other double rooms in the house?
Without a doubt: the Swiss pine. It gives the room its own unique character – warm, calm, and natural. Anyone who values a special living experience and loves the scent of Swiss pine wood will usually feel particularly at home here. And the east-facing balcony overlooks our stream – simply beautiful and soothing.
Are dogs allowed in the Zirbenstein room?
No, dogs are not allowed in any of the rooms furnished with Swiss pine. These rooms are reserved for allergy sufferers and guests with sensitivities.
Summer offers
What can you do directly from the hotel in summer?
The Alpenhof is a true hiking hotel: daily guided hikes, alpine breakfast at the mountain hut, geocaching, e-bike tours, and even climbing courses – all included or available as optional extras. Perfect for anyone who wants to experience nature 🌿. And upon your return, the hotel's own facilities will pamper you with a natural swimming pond, mini-golf, sunbathing and play area, and a spacious wellness area.
Are there any special themed weeks or events during the summer?
Yes! There are seasonal specials such as gourmet hiking weeks, alpine flowers & herbs, mountains & culture, regular guest and introductory weeks, as well as special family offers with children's programs and activities. Each highlight has its own focus and adds variety to your vacation.
Are there maps for the region around the Alpenhof? What are yours again?
We offer the Filzmoos Summer Card and the Filzmoos Alpine Pasture Card. With the Filzmoos Summer Card, you can enjoy many offers in and around Filzmoos for free or at a significantly reduced price – for example, mountain lifts, hiking buses, and selected leisure activities. It's ideal for exploring the region flexibly and at your own pace. The Filzmoos Alpine Pasture Card perfectly complements the Summer Card: it offers free treats at all the Filzmoos alpine huts, perfect for exploring the area on a culinary level. 😊 Both cards help you get to know the area around the Alpenhof better and more affordably.
Are there any special offers for families with children?
Yes! There are family weeks in the summer with special children's activities, a cheaper fixed price for children and many additional highlights – the whole thing is called "Hits for Kids".
What about children outside of the school holidays? Are they allowed to come along?
Of course, children are always welcome to join us ❤️. Outside of school holidays, however, it's usually very quiet here, as we rarely have families with children staying at this time. For many children, playmates are an important part of their holiday. So, if your child enjoys being with other children, we recommend booking during the school holidays. Outside of the holidays, on the other hand, we're especially well-suited for guests seeking peace and relaxation 🌿.
Winter offers
Is a winter holiday worthwhile even if I'm not a skier?
Absolutely! Filzmoos offers much more than just ski slopes. Winter hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or simply snowy walks – all of this is possible without ski equipment. Many guests discover the peace and quiet away from the ski area, especially in winter.
Is a winter holiday with you also suitable for beginners in skiing and snowboarding?
Yes, absolutely 😊 Filzmoos is particularly manageable, family-friendly, and beginner-friendly – perfect if you want to ease into it. Small practice slopes, few other skiers on the pistes, and three excellent ski schools greatly contribute to a successful start in skiing and snowboarding. And it's fantastic for families – if you're out on the slopes yourself, you're sure to run into your children in ski school from time to time. You'll not only hear their stories at the end of the day, but you'll also get to experience your children's first days on skis firsthand.
What should I absolutely pack for a winter holiday?
Warm clothing is a given 😉 But many people forget good shoes for winter walks. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also important – the winter sun in the mountains is often underestimated. It's better to pack an extra layer than to freeze – or spend more time in a spa would also be a solution.
How family-friendly are the winter offers?
Families feel particularly comfortable in winter because many things are easily accessible and manageable. The only important thing to remember: if you value having playmates, you should book during the school holidays. Outside of holiday periods, there are usually significantly fewer children in the house.
Are the offers only intended for full weeks or also for shorter breaks?
Many people immediately think of a whole week when they think of a winter holiday – but shorter breaks of 3-4 nights often work wonders. You can either book shorter stays directly online or we'd be happy to send you a personalized offer. 😊
Family rooms
Is there enough storage space in the family rooms for strollers and other items?
Yes, absolutely. The junior suites and apartments in particular offer ample space for strollers, bags, and toys – without feeling cramped. This keeps the room pleasantly tidy, even with a family.
Can the children really sleep comfortably on the extra beds?
Yes 😊 The extra beds and sofa beds are designed precisely for these situations. The children sleep very well here. In the Edelweiss Junior Suite, the sofas are also equipped with full-size mattresses, so all the children's sleeping needs are met. The kids sleep just as well on them as in a regular bed – guaranteed.
Are the rooms family-friendly?
Absolutely. The rooms are clearly laid out, cozy, and well thought out. We're happy to provide cribs, kettles, or other small items upon request – just let us know.
Is a balcony even useful for families?
Absolutely! Many families enjoy it when the children can get some fresh air or the parents can relax on the balcony at the end of the day. It's also a great place for clothes to air out, which can be invaluable. The south- and east-facing balconies are a real bonus – offering a fantastic view of the Filzmoos mountains, a small stream that babbles alongside the house, and our beautiful grounds.
Can we still use all hotel services in the apartment?
Yes, of course! Even in the apartment you can enjoy all the inclusive services of the Alpenhof – from the food and wellness area to the family and children's offers.
Why is a family holiday at the Alpenhof more worthwhile than a classic family hotel?
At the Alpenhof, it's less about organized entertainment and more about genuine relaxation for the whole family. No sprawling hotel complexes, no mandatory, relentless activities, and no need to take a vacation from the kids. Families enjoy their holidays at their own pace and take advantage of the extensive children's program without any obligation. A holiday together – many of our activities are designed for families, such as children's climbing on real rock. Adults can join in and have fun too. Or you can comfortably watch from the ground – it's enjoyable, and you can focus on taking photos to remember the day. 😉
Included services
For whom are the inclusive services particularly useful?
For everyone who wants to enjoy their vacation without the hassle of constant planning. Whether you want to be active or simply relax – much is already taken care of, allowing you to just go with the flow. 😊 And little things can quickly add up, so all-inclusive packages are often more economical.
What about bathrobes, towels, etc.? Do I need to bring anything?
Bathrobes, wellness bags, and towels are provided at the hotel – this saves space in your suitcase. 😊 We also have slippers at the hotel, but we kindly ask guests to bring their own. This reduces waste, as slippers are often thrown away after a holiday.
Are the included services dependent on the season?
Some offerings are tailored to the season – such as outdoor activities in summer or winter extras. However, the core areas, such as culinary experiences and wellness, naturally remain available all year round.
Is the wellness area also available on the day of arrival and departure?
Yes, the wellness and sauna area can be used for early arrivals or late departures. Depending on the package booked, these services are either already included or available for an additional charge.
How does the wellness area work – do I need to make a reservation?
Guests can easily use the indoor pool, outdoor pool, swimming pond, and sauna. Reservations are recommended for treatments like massages, but a few days in advance is sufficient. And if you prefer a quieter experience, mornings are usually the most relaxing time.
Inquiry
Is an inquiry already binding, or can I still consider it afterwards?
No, an inquiry with us is not yet a firm booking or reservation. It serves first as a way to receive a concrete offer. Afterwards, you can decide at your leisure whether everything suits you. So there's no pressure – rather, clarity.
How quickly will I receive a response to my request?
We usually get back to you very quickly – mostly within a few hours, but no later than 24 hours. If it takes longer than 24 hours, please feel free to ask – by email, phone, or WhatsApp – whichever you prefer. 😊
Do I need to know all the details before I ask?
No, not at all. If you're still unsure about room category, length of stay, or any additional requests, simply write down what you have in mind. We'll then help you and put together suitable options.
Can I request multiple rooms or different room categories at the same time?
Yes, that's easily possible. It's often particularly useful for families or groups of friends. Simply indicate this in the form – we'll take it into account when preparing your offer. Generally, we're happy to offer different room categories in several variations.
Is it still worthwhile to make an inquiry if I'm not 100% sure whether I'll actually book?
Especially then 😊 An inquiry helps you make an informed decision. You see exactly what's possible, what it costs, and what it looks like – and can then consider it at your leisure.
booking
When is the best time to book?
The earlier you book, the better the prices – early birds are rewarded at the Alpenhof Filzmoos. Another advantage is the wider selection of rooms and dates – especially around holidays and school breaks. If you're flexible, you might also get lucky at short notice. Generally speaking, it's best to book popular dates early 😊
Are there any advantages to booking directly through the website?
When you book directly through our website, you have a direct line to the hotel – without any intermediaries. This often allows us to offer the best available prices. It also makes it easy to resolve any questions or requests. When comparing prices on other platforms, please pay close attention; the prices on our website include our Half Board Plus package with many additional services. Of course, a room including breakfast is cheaper. If you have any questions, please ask us, and we'll gladly clarify or adjust our price – best price guarantee.
Do I need to know all the details before I ask?
After booking, you will receive a written confirmation with all the details. There you will find the dates, room category, price, and other important information at a glance. It's best to quickly check everything, especially the dates – then you can relax and look forward to your holiday.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit is required after booking to secure your reservation. This provides security for both parties – more detailed information will be displayed during the booking process.
Is it also possible to book by phone or email?
Yes, you can of course call or write to us directly. Some people prefer to clarify any questions in person – that's perfectly fine. This way we can also provide individual advice. 😊
Can vouchers be redeemed when booking?
Yes, of course, vouchers can be redeemed with us – you'll receive the exact details along with the voucher. It's important that you provide us with the voucher information, such as the code, etc., directly when making your inquiry or booking.
Can you reserve a specific room or location?
Feel free to let us know your preferences, such as a specific floor, a particular room number, or rooms next to each other. We'll note your requests, and for more general requests like a specific floor, we'll usually be able to accommodate them. We can't guarantee specific room numbers, but we'll do our best to fulfill our guests' wishes. 😊
Water and Wellness
Is the wellness area more modern or more cozy and alpine in style?
A lovely blend of both, but leaning more towards a cozy alpine atmosphere. Warm, inviting colors and materials dominate the look of the wellness area. You'll find many small, playful details. A definite highlight is our "thunderstorm," where a "storm" rages during your sauna session – exciting, I tell you!
What's the outdoor swimming pool like in winter? Is it even open?
Of course, it's open in winter too – after all, it's meant to be used. And it's a fantastic experience – that's for sure. Swimming in winter, surrounded by snow, is simply amazing. And the outdoor pool is heated to a comfortable 32 degrees Celsius, so you definitely won't get cold.
Do I even need a spa area for my vacation?
Not necessarily – but it certainly makes many things easier. Especially after an active day, it's really nice to have a relaxing alternative at home. And if the weather happens to be bad, a relaxing spa day is the perfect alternative. Many guests are ultimately glad it's there.
How long is the wellness area open each evening?
With us, relaxation is encouraged – every day until 10 pm. This is one of the main advantages of being a wellness guest. Many guests come to relax again after dinner. Active guests especially appreciate this service, as hiking, skiing, cross-country skiing, etc., take priority during the day.
What about a bathrobe? Do I get one at the hotel? Does it cost anything?
All our guests receive a complimentary bathrobe during their stay. It is available in various sizes, up to XXL. We have children's bathrobes up to size 152; smaller sizes are often brought by the guests themselves.
Outdoor swimming pool and indoor swimming pool
What makes the outdoor pool at the Alpenhof so special, even in winter?
The outdoor pool is heated year-round (around 32°C) and offers a warm bathing experience with views of the surrounding mountains, whether in summer or winter. Especially in winter, it's a unique experience to splash around in the warm water while the snow glistens outside. And in summer, both are fantastic – whether swimming in bright sunshine or in the rain in the middle of the steaming pool.
How large is the heated outdoor pool at the Alpenhof and is it also suitable for swimming laps?
The outdoor pool measures 17 x 6 meters and is heated to a comfortable 32°C. This makes it ideal for both leisurely splashing around and a few laps – whatever you prefer.
How long are the outdoor and indoor swimming pools open – and do the opening times differ between winter and summer?
In both summer and winter, you can use the outdoor pool, the outdoor swimming pool, and our entire wellness area from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Only in winter is the outdoor pool closed for a period of time to allow the water to be heated to a comfortable temperature. This way, you can fully enjoy your swimming experience.
Are there any other water features in and around the pools?
In the water area you'll find a whirlpool, a counter-current system, two waterfalls, twelve water fountains, a plunge pool, a rain and ice shower, and much more. Plenty of ways to relax after a hike or ski tour.
Is the water park more of a meeting place for families or mixed with adults?
The water park is intentionally designed to be a mixed-use space. Families feel just as comfortable here as adults and those seeking peace and quiet, whether they simply want to swim a few laps or relax. The pleasant atmosphere makes this coexistence very easy. The comfortable water temperature is a major plus, especially for families with children. The warm water ensures that even longer swims are no problem – no shivering or constant complaints of "I'm cold now!" And with the indoor pool and, in summer, the swimming pond, there are plenty of alternative options for children to play in the water.
Natural bathing pond
How cold is the water in the swimming pond normally?
Of course, this depends on the season and the weather. In July and August, the water is certainly pleasantly refreshing; before and after that, it's either pleasantly warm or even quite invigorating, depending on the weather. 😊 Many guests appreciate precisely this natural character – no artificially heated water, but a genuine feeling of nature.
Are there specific times when the swimming pond is particularly quiet?
Experience has shown that it's particularly relaxed in the mornings until early afternoon, as our guests are often out and about. But even during peak times, thanks to the outdoor pool, indoor pool, swimming pond, and the available sun loungers, there are still plenty of loungers available for everyone. And the water area is easily large enough for everyone.
How is the water quality in the bathing pond ensured?
The water is purified purely biologically through plants and natural filter zones – just like nature intended. This keeps the water clear and fresh – completely without chemical additives. Many guests find this particularly pleasant for their skin and eyes. In addition, the water is monitored – at least three times per bathing season, so almost every month, it is officially tested; this is mandatory and a good thing!
Is the swimming pond also suitable for children?
Absolutely yes, as long as children can swim and/or are supervised. The entire pond is a swimming area.
